As an affiliate marketer you work international, and you have your responsibility for everything you advertise online. How the product you are advertising is affecting the environment. Not only the shipments but also how it is produced. And although you work in a small segment of the market, you do need to investigate the products and companies thoroughly.
Here are some points to consider thinking about before starting an affiliate partnership:
Safe business environment
Where do you host your website and what kind of security is offered to you? How is the technical support arranged? And is a there a community support/forum available? Are you on your own, or is a versatile guidance available?
The education standard
Higher educational levels allow people to increase their income. And your increased income will prove to you the education is functional. What are your expectations of an online education?
The product
Your choice for a product can have a huge influence on the micro-environment. It is well worth it to think of where your passion lies. About which topic can you talk the whole day long, every day again, and again? And which product from which company do you like to promote on your website? As an individual, your micro business is affecting the environment factors as a drop in the ocean, but as a huge group of marketers, we can have an enormous effect on the environment.
The affiliate partner
You can apply to thousands of companies to become an affiliate of. Companies that do not comply with the environment and companies that take their full responsibility in the area of sustainable production. You can make a difference, you know?
The market
The market needs to be well informed about the possibilities. About what product to chose for. And which footprint it leaves on this planet for the next generations. The internet users are growing daily, and the market is huge!
It is our collective and individual responsibility … to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live. ~ Dalai Lama Click To TweetThree internal environmental factors
- Financial capabilities of the company
- Unpredictable environmental factors
- Market forces
Financial capabilities of the company
How much profit does a company make? They do need profit, so, they can afford it to invest in sustainability.
Unpredictable environmental factors
These are mostly marketing issues. Wages are rising and product prices are falling, legislation that changes, new environmental goals. Imposed by governments
Market forces
The changes in demand or competition that increases
These internal factors can be the reason that a company you deal with is changing its policy. They can suddenly start a different course, perhaps because of a lack of money or due to heavy demands imposed by new laws. It remains our own responsibility whether we choose to continue, and agree to the changed policy, or to switch to another, more sustainable producing company
Where does your responsibility stops?
Does our own responsibility ever stop? Can we, by taking our responsibility as an individual, create the ideal world? Or is this a utopia? Can we put our own responsibility on someone else because our “little me” does not matter much? If you add up all the individuals, you can imagine, that it has a big impact on sustainability worldwide. My dad always said. When every individual throws away one piece of paper, it will cost the world a whole rain forest.
We live on planet A, we do not have a planet B, C or D!
My no. #1 recommendation for the best marketing course

Loes,
The impact to the environment is something to be considered in everything we do today. I thing that all products should be reviewed to sustain the world in which we are living in or soon we will be so over polluted with garbage that people will not have the environment to be able to breathe or get fresh drinking water. People do not realize that companies need to make this a priority and as an affiliate marketer you can make a difference in the relationship you build with companies whose products you wish to promote. In doing this the companies that are not complying with keeping the environment safe or the standard set forth will not survive and profits for the companies that do will and can soar.
This is not only good for our environment but for the consumers as well – becoming an affiliate marketer is a very profitable business venture and getting free training will enable people to make the correct choice if this will work for them.
Thank you,
Susan

Hi, I fully back you up on this. What I more see as a problem is do I get the information I need to sell responsibly.
For example, even though I sell solar products, they come from Amazon and they advertise Chinese companies that are often not telling how they produce.
But I really think you’re right, we should inform our self as good as we can. The mindset of everyone has to gradually change and with announcements like this one another little step is made, thanks 🙂

Good to hear that you are promoting solar panels, Stefan. Amazon has a sustainability program you can read all about Amazon and the world here.

Hey Loes! How are you doing? I’ve really enjoyed reading this article on “Environmental Factors Affecting International Business” and I liked it as you’ve provided us with lots of valuable information. I completely agree with whatever you said because an Affiliate Marketer only thinks about making money and I think that they must also take other factors into consideration. In this century, we are really facing tonnes of issues with the climate change and stuff like that. It is mandatory that people promote products that don’t have any significant impact on the Environment.
Thank you for taking your time in creating this blog post. Well done Loes!

This climate change weights heavy on our dear earth, we should all take up the responsibility to limit our footprint. Thanks for your comment.

Hey Loes,
I never really thought about how the environmental factors could affect business on a international business. But, one example I could think of is the essential oils industry. If you are getting your raw herbs from other countries a draught, hurricane, etc. could easily effect the crops.
But, as an affiliate here is some advise. I always tell people as an affiliate though to just contact the affiliate managers from the get go. If they don’t reply or give you canned answers forget them. They will be a hassle later on down the road and you don’t want to really do business with them in the future.
Loes says:
That’s a wise approach, Garen. Thank you, I will remember that.
