Don’t Give up

Countless people around the world engage in the blogging system with the expectations of getting a lot of daily visitors to their websites. You might wonder about why some bloggers are able to get the elusive and highly coveted traffic to their own site even in the beginning. Even worse they only have a few articles and they are already doing better than you, who has spent the last six months writing.

What are they Doing different?

If you are already doing keyword research, using tags in content, and interlinking pages then maybe the secret sauce that is missing is guest blogging. Guest blogging serves as a means by which you can get people informed about your blog, which definitely leads to authority. Google and Bing like to see other websites linking out to your website. This tells the search engines that your site has valuable content on it that people want to read.

Guest Blogging

Guest Blogging as a site-traffic booster method promotes visitors both by raising the authority and by directly sending traffic to your site. When you write a guest post for another site you will include one or two links to your own website. This provides a backlink for both Google to see and for people to be able to click on to get to your page.

Why would anyone want to accept Guest Posting?open_link_in_new_tab WP

You might be concerned that accepting guest posting could steal your own traffic. In theory that makes sense and I just said guest posting can drive clicks to others site, but in reality, it doesn’t matter. If Someone writes you an excellent guest post that gets Google’s attention and sends you traffic, your going to be happy. If it ranks high, you’re going to be even happier. You will find that very few of those people that visited your page actually click away from your site using the links your guest poster has added. One thing you can do is to make sure the link opens a new window/tab instead of just directing them to the other page. This way both pages will be open.

Guest blogging or Guest Posting

We have already covered that guest blogging is where you write for another website. Did you notice that I use guest posting and guest blogging interchangeably? If you want to get into the nitty gritty then guest blogging is old and really was a method just for the old-style blogs where the new and improved guest posting is for any website and gets its own page URL instead of just on a blog page. The difference is small and most people will use them both as a synonym instead of refereeing to the old and new way.

How to get into Guest Posting

The simplest way is to do a Google search for keywords on your website, find the contact information to that site and ask if you can write a post for them. You can also do a search on Quora for sites looking for guest posting, then there are sites like this one that takes posts often. Only look for quality sites and no adult content. Avoid Anything that looks spammy.

Reach out through email and let them know what you want to write about or ask if they have any topics they would like posts on. Make sure to let them know that in exchange for writing you will be adding one or two do follow links to your webpages. I would start with this method, but only to get used to how it works. This is the simplest way. Now for the advanced way.

Use Research to Guest Post

Knowledge is power, that’s what they say at least. It’s only power if you use it. If you want to make the most of your guest posting then you need knowledge. You need to research your competitors.

What site is ranking higher than yours that has the same keywords?

Make a list of websites you want to research, find their backlinks with tools. You can use expensive tools like AHREFS, SEMRUSH, or less expensive ones like Spyfu. Then there is a free one called Ubersuggest by Neil Patel. Once you know who links to them you know another factor to why they are ranking high.

Use your new information to reach out to these sites and request to write for them. Some of these sites will ask for a fee to be paid, some won’t even respond, and then every once in a while, it will work out. Be patient and don’t give up. When you do get the chance to write for another site make it count. Only do quality work.

Tips for Guest Postings

  • Do Follow Links: Check the links that you have added to your content. Make sure that they work and go where you have planned. Unfortunately, some of the sites you write for will change your links to no-follow. This means that you really don’t get the credit you deserve. You can ask them to change it back, but if they went through the trouble of adding a no-follow tag then they probably won’t. It sucks, but it happens. It just happened to me on a 3000-word post I spent days on.
  • Content Uniqueness: Make sure your content is new. It can cover the same topics but do not duplicate. Run it through a duplicate checker just to make sure you didn’t have the same great idea for two different projects.
  • Publicity through Social Networks: Share your newly posted content on all the social media sites you can. You want this post to get traffic, it helps you as well.

Traffic follow-up:  For you to know what is working make sure you utilize Google Analytics to get the number of visitors to compare daily, weekly, and monthly. You can see how guest posting is changing your traffic, if you are getting referrals from the sites or if this is increasing your traffic through rankings. Just remember that it may take months to see the fruit of your labors.

Great idea to get more traffic. I didn’t realize that you could use free tools to check other peoples sites. I’m going to check out the ubersuggest right now. it seems like a lot of work to write for other people, but if it provides more traffic that I’m willing to give guest posting a shot.
