I hate my job what can I do about this?

You have 3 options, but first, we are going to define the thesis.

Define for yourself what you hate about your job.

You can write your answers down to create more clearness for yourself.

  • Do you hate your colleagues?
  • Do you hate the travel time?
  • Do you hate the work that you have to do?
  • Do you hate the (low)payment you get?
  • Do you hate the way your manager/boss is treating you?
  • Do you hate to leave your children in the daycare?
  • Have you start hating the product your company is marketing?

If you hate all 7, it’s the highest time to take action!

I hate my job

And Eckhart Tolle is right! When you don’t follow these 3 options you will hit that brick wall!

The 3 options

  1. Go away
  2. Change it
  3. Accept it

Let’s go over the points I’ve noted.
Go over all the questions and give yourself a fair chance and an honest answer.

  • Do you hate your colleagues?

What do you hate about them? Are they bullying you? Are they not doing the job properly? Are they lazy? Did you have a relationship with one or more of them?

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

  • Do you hate the travel time?

Don’t you like driving the car? Is the job far away or are the streets filled traffic jams? Can you go by train or change your working times? Can you make arrangements to work from home one or two days a week? etc.etc.

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

  • Do you hate the work that you have to do?

Are you working at a slaughterhouse, whilst you’ve become a vegetarian? Is it possible to get a promotion? Can you perhaps start a refresher or some course to get more opportunities in the company?

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

  • Do you hate the (low)payment you get?

Can you ask for a raise? Or perhaps a travel allowance?

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

  • Do you hate the way your manager/boss is treating you?

Are you standing alone, or is the boss/manager also treating your colleagues bad? Can the union do something for you? Can you talk with the staff chief?

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

  • Do you hate to leave your children in the daycare?

Can you economize and work part time? Can you start your work earlier to be at home when school is out?

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

  • Have you start hating the product your company is marketing?

Is the company you work for not taking their responsibility for the environment?

What can you do about it, given the 3 options?

Now we have this clarified.

Write your plan for your future:

  • start looking for another job.
  • change your attitude or the circumstances
  • accept things are as they are.

Holistic approach

Where you put your focus will stay. So, where you pay attention too will increase. What do you want to increase and what do you want to decrease.

When you have accepted something or a situation, you can let it go and that gives you time to focus yourself on something more positive.

My story

I hated my job what did I do?
10 years ago I had suddenly the care over 4 children alone. I started as a cleaning woman. But after a year or so I start hating my work, doing everywhere all sanitary. Cleaning 10 times a week toilets, showers, and baths. And it was if the devil was playing with it, that I got a job in the community centre. I got there 12 toilets and three urinals extra to clean. Then one company I worked for, moved to a bigger place, and yes, you guessed right. More toilets. In my best year, I cleaned 36 toilets a week!

I read the words from Eckhart Tolle, and I accepted the things as they were. My attitude changed towards my work, and I became real proud of the results I accomplished. Superb clean bathrooms and toilets! I sang along with my favorite music during work time. And I was telling myself, I love my job!

Then out of the blue, I was asked to take care of 2 children, and get paid for it. Great! I love children. A few weeks later, I had 6 children to take care of. So I changed my job from cleaning woman into daycare owner.

And now, I really love my job! The children are aging, going to school all day and that leaves me a lot of free time. Which I fill with writing, reading and doing things on the computer. I found Wealthy Affiliate and started my websites. And the beauty of it all is, I am earning an additional income, just doing the work I love most 🙂

Hi Loes, what an inspiring personal story, and great words of Eckhart Tolle.

What you write here about day care for children is something my wife would like to see. She always wanted this, and in fact she still does, but there were some administrative obstacles (in Belgium) so she gave up, but the idea is still there all the time.

You made quite a journey in your life. Just see what you have done in your online activity. Remarkable.

As for myself, I am far from answering ‘yes’ to your starting questions, so I cannot completely put myself in shoes of those who would answer by ‘yes’. I love what I do, just as you love your work with children. Many thanks.

Hello Jovo, thanks for your compliments. Starting my daycare had some obsticals too. I had to go back to school the get the right papers. Quite odd, I had raised 6 children, but still had to go to school again for a year. But I managed to get my diploma on the age of 51. So anything is possible:) Loes
