Learn To Be A Copywriter

Have you tried everything, an autoresponder, advertising, videos, you’ve optimized your SEO? And nothing seems to improve your conversion? Where is the problem? What else can you do? I might be able to help you with my 3 tips…♥
Become a better copywriter
When everything else is failing, could it be that your writing style is the problem? Copywriting is a profession but there are definitely things you can learn from a copywriter.
What do you notice when you read a piece written by a professional?
- The prickly writing style
- The fluently chosen words
- Judgmentless writing
Writing as entrepreneur
Opinion, a fact, or a judgment
You could implement these 3 things, as a starting writer, in your text. Read your text and think about whether you have written an opinion, a fact, or a judgment. You can not disagree about a fact. It’s raining or it’s not raining. That’s a fact. Not everybody loves chocolate, you can have an opinion about that. Be very careful with statements like Everybody loves… or nobody does… that’s your opinion and definitely not a fact. Stay away from judgments.
Connect with your reader
It doesn’t matter if you meet someone in person or on the internet. You need to create a connection. In the offline world, I know, it’s much easier, because you can use the body language, voice intonation, and eye contact. Connecting on the internet is a bit more difficult, but doable.
Write as you are
I will give you an example of how you can create this connection, I learned this from the Dutch professional copywriter Peter Post.
◊You want to sell a laptop. So you put the ad on your site, and tell the visitor all the specifications of the laptop. The memory, the measures, the weight, the Li-ion battery, the pricing. All the technical stuff. That doesn’t create a connection.
When you tell your visitor that the laptop fits into a briefcase, and is lightweight to carry, they can easily store 100.000 pictures on it, and the battery can be used for 10 hours. That creates a connection!
You have to make a connection with your visitor, you really can’t sell anything to someone who’s not listening!◊
Take your time
Copywriting does take time. When you have completed your article, take a nap and read it again the next day. I bet you find some sentences which could be bettered and some writing errors. Take also your time to find the right images for your article. Be original and let the images tickle the imagination of your reader. You can try out Canva or Design Wizard.
Tip #1 Ask a question
Not just a question, BUT.. a question that can only be answered with “Yes”. People have to recognize themselves and their problem in your question.
The internet is very impatient, and you have to capture your visitor attention within seconds.
Tip #2 Start with the problem
The problem is your connection to your reader. You outline the problem your reader might have, in that way, that your reader’s interest is awakened. Your reader is ready for the solution you have to offer.
Tip #3 Tell exactly what your reader has to do
Often forgotten! In the old days, before the computer age, everything was handled on paper. When you found some coupon, there was exactly pointed out on it what you had to do. Cut out the voucher on the line, fill in the voucher completely and send it in an envelope, stating article number, to street name/ number/zipcode/ place. Very thoroughly!
So, when you have a call to action, tell people exactly what to do. On the average, five times as many people read the headlines as they are reading the body copy. It follows that unless your headline sells your product, you have wasted 90 percent of your money. Click To TweetSample article writing format
