Design Wizard Sean Prior
Founder: Sean Prior
Location: Ballincollig, Cork, Ireland
Introduction: Video

Back in 2015 in Cork in 2015, Sean Prior saw a new marketing chance. After years of working in the digital and media world (CEO Wavebreak Media), he brainstormed about a new kind of tool. It is Sean’s passion to engage in online visuals, he had a fixedly glued idea about his future company and Design Wizard was born from this vision. Sean wants it to be accessible to everyone to create beautiful visual content. It’s his mission to give you and me awesome looking content for our online businesses. And first and foremost, it must be easy and quick to use, without any prior knowledge of coding. I would say: “Mission accomplished, Sean”!

Why is visual content scoring higher than text?

Scrolling through my Facebook timeline, my eye catches a funny image. I wonder why my brain just wants to jump from one picture to the other. The tweets and messages are overcrowding my timelines. An enormous amount of information keeps coming in every day. In order not to go crazy, I am filtering, and visual content such as photos, images, and videos are drawn to my Seeing is eatingattention.

Visual content does not only stand out, we also often record the information better. What do our brains want?
When people hear information, they remember just ten percent of it three days later. If there was a relevant image with that information, they would still be able to reproduce 65% of the message three days later. We process visual information 60,000 times faster than text.

Many people are visually oriented and we all know: one image says more than a thousand words. When you use an image in combination with a text, the message will stick better and will be better understood. Also, images break a text, and therefore, making the text more attractive to read.

Visual information is the shop window of your website.

Do you like some numbers?

  • Tweets with images are clicked 18% more.
  • They are 89% more favorite and 150% more retweeted.
  • Facebook campaigns with visual content generate 65% more engagement than campaigns without.
  • Content with relevant images gets 94% more views than purely textual content.
  • Visitors to a webshop prefer to watch a product video than they read about it.

You just read this pile of numbers in a row, the text version.

Does a picture appeal more than words?

Visuals are indispensable and of great value. Infographics and original appropriate pictures are giving any web content a boost. Sean Prior stepped right into this gap in the market. He had a vision, and he had the knowledge to create this awesome design software. He gathered a team and started working on realizing his dream. The team is still growing, dozens of people are now working in his company. They are is currently recruiting software engineers, multimedia designers, marketers and support roles.

On a daily base, new images are added, and the innovation of the software never stopped. Wavebreak Media, a major supplier of stock video and photography, and Design Wizard turn out to be a golden team.

Terms and conditions

Every online program you use has its own terms and conditions. It’s always wise to read them! I have talked with the marketing manager of Design Wizard (Micheal Bren) about this and asked him what exactly is the difference between eg. Canva and Design Wizard. He explained to me very clearly the differences between Canva and Design Wizard.

Micheal Bren:

Design Wizard is actually cheaper than Canva, he said. When you purchase a design from Canva.com and pay $1/$2 you are only licensing that design for one use. Meaning if you license a Canva design and share it on Facebook, then share it on Linkedin, you are outside of their licensing terms. If you want to share a design made with Canva more than once you need to buy a multiple use license, which is usually $10-$20.

With Design Wizard, when you buy the design, the multi-use license is already included, so you can share the design as often as you want.

The other thing is that we offer a monthly subscription for just $9.99 per month that gives you 60 credits, each credit is equal to a dollar amount. IE if the template costs $2 and you are on a subscription it will cost you 2 credits. This basically means that you get $60 worth of media each month for $9.99. Much more cost effective than Canva.

It’s nice to know, that the multiple licenses are included, because the last thing we want, as online business owners, is getting a major fine.

Great site and yes it’s so true that I am attracted to visuals and videos more than anything else. This has me re-thinking of adding more to my websites how.

The Design Wizard seems to be a good choice and much cheaper than Canva. I’m going to try the free version and if it’s as good as you say I’ll subscribe for the $10 a month.

Have you tried the Pro version yet and is it worth then $10 a month?

    Thanks!

    • Loes says:

Hi Shaun, I do like Design Wizard a lot, and yes I have a premium account there. With a premium account, you get 60 credits p/mth you can spent on images. When you purchase 60 images of $1, you’ll have a benefit of $50 over the $10 a month fee.

      Enjoy this program 🙂
