Buying a laptop can be tricky. There is a wide range and how do you know which one to choose? The most suitable laptop differs for everyone and depends on your wishes and use. I am happy to help you find the best laptop that perfectly matches your needs. This way I give you some useful tips to take with you in your purchase. Determine your usage requirements
When choosing a new laptop, it is important to determine what you will do with it. Are you only going to use the laptop for internet and e-mail? Then your laptop needs other requirements than when you are looking for a laptop to edit videos and photos or for gaming. The first question you have to ask yourself is: What do I want to do with my laptop? Below I show you differences between a whole regiment of laptop offers.
What is the best laptop for basic use?
Are you going to use your laptop mainly for internet, e-mail and social media like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn? Then you do not require heavy demands on the laptop. Because these are activities that require a little effort from your laptop, you basically have enough with a basic laptop.
What is the best laptop for movies
Are you looking for a laptop for Netflix or watching YouTube movies? Then choose a laptop with a Full HD screen. That allows you to view photos and videos in optimal quality. These laptops are also suitable for daily use. Internet, e-mail and word processing.
What is the best laptop for college?
Are you looking for a laptop, for yourself or your children, for school or your study? Choose a laptop with a long battery life if you travel a lot and use the laptop often at different locations. With an affordable Chromebook, you work directly from the cloud. For example, filter to the ideal screen size, storage capacity, and price. But also important, filter for a lightweight laptop.
What is the best laptop for photo editing
For photo and video editing, you need a powerful laptop with a processor that can handle a lot. Do you only edit holiday photos or for your hobby? Then an Intel Core i5 processor is just fine. Are you going to work more professionally? Then choose at least an Intel Core i7 processor with sufficient working memory. The laptops with an Intel Core i5 and i7 all have a Full HD screen, a suitable video card and a lot of storage capacity.

Think, for example, of a lightweight housing, a long battery life or powerful hardware for carrying out heavy workloads. Would you like to play the latest games? Then you need a laptop with a powerful video card. Gaming laptops also have a fast Intel processor, sufficient memory and often also an SSD. Find laptop screen size

A laptop, just like a TV or monitor, has a screen diagonal measured in inches. The screen diagonal is measured from the bottom left to the upper right. In the above image, you can see how many inches is a cm. This is the distance diagonally across the screen. How do you choose the right inch size? I have grouped the most common inch sizes to give you advice.
Small sizes
The small inch-sized laptops have a size of 10.1 to 11.6 inches. A 10.1-inch laptop has a screen surface similar to a tablet. Convenient for the couch or on the go, for example, choose a 2-in-1 laptop. Because of the small size, it is light and easy to carry. On the other hand, the small size is not always pleasant in terms of legibility and the laptop has fewer USB connections.
Compact formats
A little smaller than an average laptop, these laptops are pleasant on the go. A lightweight laptop, usually with good battery life and well suited for daily use. The inch sizes in this group are 13.3 and 14 inches. You can easily take this laptop with you in a backpack or briefcase, while in terms of speed they perform as good as the 15.6-inch laptops.
Medium size
The 15.6-inch laptop is the most common inch size. The screen diagonal is 39 cm, making it a stroke wider than an A4. These laptops are ideal for home use and can be easily transported in a bag. A 15.6-inch laptop can weigh more than 2 kg, making it less interesting for student and when you travel a lot.
Big format
This group of laptops consists of 17-inch laptops. You use these laptops mainly in one place, especially because of the higher weight. Thanks to the large screen these laptops have the advantage that the readability is much better. That is nice when you experience, for example, that texts on a 15-inch screen are difficult to read. In addition, the large format is pleasant for watching multimedia and playing games.
Which laptop processor do I need?
The processor is the engine of a laptop. It calculates and performs all kinds of tasks, with which it largely determines the speed of your laptop. How do you choose the right processor for your laptop? Intel and AMD are the manufacturers of processors that you encounter in a laptop. On the basis of the overview below for each user purpose, you choose the right laptop processor.
The processor for daily use and studying
Do you want to quickly surf the internet, e-mail, use word processing or presentations? These are daily tasks that do not require much from a processor. I recommend at least an Intel Celeron processor. Do you want to perform multiple tasks simultaneously? Then choose an Intel Core i3, AMD A6 or A8 processor.
Photo and video editing
When you want to edit photos and videos, programs such as Photoshop or Pinnacle Studio require a lot of computing power. In this case, I recommend a laptop with at least one Intel Core i5 processor. Thanks to the built-in turbo and higher speed, it performs better than an Intel Core i3 processor. If you choose an AMD processor, go for the AMD A10 series. Please note that your laptop is equipped with a graphics card in addition to an Intel Core i5 or AMD A10 processor.
Watch movies and series
Watching a movie on Youtube or watching a Netflix series? Nowadays, many films and series are streamed via the Internet and therefore do not require much computing power from a processor. But I recommend at least an Intel Celeron processor. Do you want to watch a movie in HQ? Make sure you choose a laptop with a Full HD screen.
Productive work & gaming
Do you want to play the most recent games on your laptop? To experience no delays in games, a fast processor is required. I, therefore recommend an Intel Core i7. Note that the processor is always combined with at least 8 GB of memory and a strong graphics card. The GTX 1050 or GTX 1060 from NVIDIA are sufficient to play most games well.
How much storage do you need?
The size of the hard drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD) determines how much software and files you can store. With average use, an SSD of 128 GB is usually sufficient.
How much Internal memory do you need?
The internal memory is essential for the operating system and programs to work properly. A laptop becomes noticeably slower when the internal memory is full. For average use, 4 GB is sufficient. For the more intensive use, you need at least 8 GB.
Why do I need a video card?
The video card provides the image display: from texts, videos to games. There are no high requirements for daily use, but games require a powerful video card.
What is the difference between SSD or hard drive?
An SSD ensures faster start-up times and smooth operation. An SSD is significantly faster than a regular hard disk, reliable and completely silent. In short, an SSD is nice for every laptop.
What is the best laptop for the money
Most prizes from the same category, but different brand laptops, do not differ much from each other. What is of importance to you is to search for the model you have selected with the requirements you need on the internet. There can sometimes be a difference of $ 200 in the price at the various companies.
