  1. It’s very interesting to read through this interview with Aykut, it’s very interactive and I’ve learned one or two things from Aykut story about how he got to be the greatness he is today. Most times, we are meant to use these stories as motivation to help us reach our own peak and success.

    • Hi, I am very glad to read that this interview with Aykut Pehlivanoglu was useful and motivational to you.We all go our own way with bumps, difficulties, and struggles towards an improved future for ourselves. And we all hope to help others with our experiences. I am glad that the interview brought you something. I wish you the best of luck in developing and/or maintaining your own online success.

  2. I too remember the 56k modem sound!

This is a fascinating interview. What an accomplished man he is. It is interesting to hear his answers, from the perspective he has developed in the industry.

Yet, and importantly, his products are obviously useful and can help people in the different aspects of blogging/affiliating/buying or selling sites. As he said himself, good information and guides are precious – we can waste a lot of time rooting around for it.

Thanks for these recommendations. Oh and btw I would love to have dinner with you, Malala, Tina and Ester! I guess now only a Zoom dinner would be possible.

    • Thank you for appreciating my choice of table partners. At least we should dine 1.5 meters apart 🙂 Yes, time is going fast, we can’t afford to waste it. Enjoy your day, and success with your online endeavors.

    • Thanks a lot for your kind words. I feel great when people find the things I developed useful. I was watching a documentary about the old craftsmen. They were telling how satisfying it is just to produce something, the secret recipe to be happy all their lives. We should all try to copy their secret in various shapes and forms 🙂

  3. Hi Loes, I actually have some questions for Aykut…

    1. it’s a little off topic but you mention being around in 25 years if there are no aliens. I always thought this was a myth but you are big into your science. Can you expand a little more on this?

    2. What would be your top three books to read regarding affiliate marketing?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Catherine,

Thank you, an interesting way this interview is moving 🙂

This is a huge topic. Ashyra asked in another comment if I am considering any other industry. Well, this may be the next project. But how to monetize that blog? Maybe I can sell telescopes to the audience 🙂

I think there is life out there somewhere. It can be on a planet in the form of a bacteria, a plant, or some intelligent lifeform. It can even be something like tardigrades frozen on an asteroid waiting to awaken. The problem is the distances and odds of finding each other. The universe is huge. Earth is like a needle in a haystack. The universe is the haystack at the size of the US. So meeting another intelligent lifeform as depicted as “aliens” in the movies maybe will never happen.

To put things in perspective, even if the sun will magically disappear now, we wouldn’t notice for 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Speed of light, light years, watching things that happened billions of years ago from our telescopes are interesting concepts. The universe is expanding also, galaxies are moving away from each other. So it lowers the odds. Just check Kardashev Scale, we are primitive still.

Have a look at Cosmos series from Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson, they tell these in a fun way.

My biggest advice will be to avoid “guru” style people altogether.

Check https://prussakov.com/publications/, Geno is a friend of mine, and he is the guy in the affiliate ecosystem. You can also read his work about affiliate program management. It will give you the perspective for the other side of the equation.

And a bit of unusual advice. Probably you have heard of Inbound Marketing. I went a step further and took HubSpot’s courses about sales, like Inbound Sales and Sales Enablement. Because you need sales skills in your life and especially as an affiliate marketer. I am a fan of Inbound Sales because it is more of my style. Go take the course, it is free: https://academy.hubspot.com/courses/inbound-sales

  4. Wow, Thankyou Aykut, that definitely puts things into a different perspective, and makes sense. If I stick to my targets and deadlines that gives me a much better chance of working my time more effectively. I appreciate your advise, you’ve just taught me a lot. Thanks again

  5. Hi, such a witty and informative interview I really enjoyed it? I wanted to ask a few questions actually, because I find it really assuring how many businesses you have worked on, and the fact that you have had failures in the past. To elaborate on that, is it true that in order to be a millionaire you need 7 sources of income? Have you had support from investors? Are there any other industries you would like to make a break through?

    • Hi Ashyra,

      Thanks for your interest 🙂

Throughout my career, I had the chance to talk with wealthy people. People with 7-, 8-figure worth or representatives of funds with 9 figures. I observed a pattern. They all care about the time before money. Because money is scalable, you can arrange it. But time is the same for everyone, rich or poor.

For example, if they will buy a web asset, the first question they ask is how much time needed to run the online business. They ask how much of it can be outsourced so they can efficiently use the rest of their time with their other investments. They search for pure passive income. I don’t think there is a certain number like 7 for the number of sources. They try to diversify asset classes and industries of course but the most important is that they will not work “for” their business.

So if you aim for the exit which is to sell your online business, minimize the management time for the owner. Try to make it as automated as possible for a potential buyer.

I am a fan of bootstrapping. (Bootstrapping is building a company from the ground up with nothing but personal savings, and with luck, the cash coming in from the first sales.) I like the freedom. When you start to spread shares to investors, you start to become an employee in your own business. Some businesses will need funding for sure whether it will come from an investor or some loan from a financial institution. So it depends on your preferences, your business, your industry, etc.

I was not planning to create a database for the affiliate ecosystem last summer. But here I am. So who knows? 🙂
